Who we are

Cloud Native Dojo ("the app") is operated by Cloud Native Dojo ("we", "us").

Summary

• We do not require an account, and we do not ask you for your name, email address, or any other personal detail.
• Your study progress stays on your device. We never receive it.
• We show advertising, and our advertising partner (Google AdMob) does collect data. That is the main way data leaves your device.

What stays on your device

Your learning progress — which cards you've studied, how you rated them, your review schedule, your streak, and your statistics — is stored only in local storage on your device. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

Because of this:

• We cannot see your progress or study history.
• Your progress does not sync between devices.
• Uninstalling the app permanently deletes this data. We hold no backup and cannot restore it.

What the app downloads

The app fetches learning content, configuration, and Kubernetes blog headlines from our backend, hosted on Supabase. These are ordinary, one-directional downloads: content comes to your device, and no personal information about you is sent as part of the request. Standard technical information (such as your IP address) is processed as part of any internet request in order to deliver the response.

Advertising

The app displays advertising supplied by Google AdMob.

To serve ads, Google may collect and process:

• Your device's advertising identifier (a resettable ID)
• Device information — model, operating system version, language, approximate location derived from IP address
• Ad interaction data — which ads were shown, viewed, or tapped

We do not receive this data ourselves, and we do not link it to anything else. It is collected and used by Google under its own privacy policy:

Your controls:

• Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads lets you reset or delete your advertising ID, and opt out of ad personalisation.

The app may also display sponsored links to third-party websites. Tapping one opens it in your browser, and that site's own privacy policy then applies. We don't control those sites.

External links

The app shows headlines and short excerpts from the official Kubernetes blog (kubernetes.io), used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence. Tapping an article opens it in your device's browser on kubernetes.io — a site we don't operate. Their privacy practices apply once you're there.

Children

The app is intended for a general audience of professional and adult learners. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us at cloudnativedojo@gmail.com.

Your rights (GDPR / EEA and UK users)

Because we don't collect or hold personal data about you ourselves, there is generally nothing for us to access, correct, or erase on request.

For the advertising data described above, Google is the data controller, and rights relating to that data are exercised through Google:

You can stop all further data collection at any time by uninstalling the app, which also erases your locally-stored progress.

Data retention

• Progress data: held on your device until you delete it or uninstall.
• Advertising data: retained by Google per its own policies.
• Our backend: stores learning content and configuration only. It holds no user records.

Security

Connections between the app and our backend use HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, but since we don't collect personal information about you, there is no personal data of yours on our servers to be exposed.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or in the store listing's release notes.
